Interior Design Trends For 2017

Interior Design Trends For 2017

As the seasons come around, we often feel like freshening things up a little around the home. Maybe not a complete overhaul every time, but sprucing up a room or two or adding a new something or other to update the style always brings a little extra joy into your home life. If you haven’t felt that urge to freshen things up yet, then the grey clouds of winter are probably still looming a little too large on your horizon.

Now the seasonal change has kicked in, you may want to be aware of some of the interior design trends that expert designers and decorators have been predicting to grow increasingly popular throughout 2017. For that very purpose we have cast our own critical eye around and picked out our favourite interior design trends that have been doing the rounds.

Shades of Green

Let’s get this at the top of the list as interior designers are all over it at the moment. Green, and a bright shade of green at that, is set to be THE colour of 2017. The two main shades you might want to consider will be lime green and emerald, which is deeper and perhaps more of an all-year round colour. Brighter greens will obviously look wonderful in the summer months, but can still work all year in some types of room. Ideally you will want to add greens to a room with lots of white accents, as these two shades work excellently together.

Neutral Colours

If giving one of your rooms a super bright makeover doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, then don’t worry as other colours set be in demand this year are neutral colours. Think of beige, light grey and white, as well as light tans and even soft pink. An extra note on grey as it’s not the most inspiring colour usually: it’s a shade that complements many other colours so you always consider it as an option.

Outlandish Prints

If plain colours aren’t your thing then you may want to indulge in some wallpaper featuring a busy design such as a tropical print. Patterns are trendy again; though do be careful not to overdo it. A good balance should always be sought, such as outlandishly printed wallpaper in a room featuring plainly coloured couches.

Trendy Textures

Texture is crucial to giving a room a little depth and comfort, especially in a room with a limited colour scheme. Mixing up different fabrics and materials works well with a variety of different colour themes, plus it’s one of the most fun ways to experiment with the interior design of your home. One particular texture blend you might want to consider for 2017 is a contrast of something like a woollen throw over a leather chair, or brass fixtures on treated wood. There are literally unlimited options to play with here, so get designing!
