LIGHTING UP THE TOWN CENTRE FOR CHRISTMAS

Christmas arrived at Ormskirk town centre on Friday 27 November with fun for all at the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On.

Christmas arrived at Ormskirk town centre on Friday 27 November with fun for all at the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On. Hundreds of locals braved the weather to join in the start of the festivities. Revelers were treated to family entertainment from ‘Fun Steve’, the Ormskirk Rock Choir and the Jingle Belles performing songs from Frozen with popular children’s characters Mickey Mouse, Peppa Pig, Sponge Bob, Olaf from Frozen and Red Power Ranger in town to join in the fun. And of course the big man himself was in demand waiting to hear Christmas present lists in his special grotto all provided by the local Rotary Cub.

Finally a procession of local dignitaries and guests led by a piper wound its way from the parish church towards the main arena in readiness for a truly festive Carol Ceremony with the Skelmersdale Brass Band and Friends in Unison Choir.

Then the moment everyone had been waiting for when The Mayor of West Lancashire pulled the switch and the town centre was lit up with Christmas sparkle!

Neil Warnock, Managing Director at NSW Properties said, ‘”It was great to see the town centre so vibrant and busy. Ormskirk has so much to offer this Christmas time and throughout the year, so I hope that local people will support their local shops and businesses so the community can continue to thrive.”
